Outdoor as a classroom

「野外を教室に」-このメッセージを届けるために3月下旬から4月始めまで「スウェーデン自然学校来日プロジェクト」が実施され、自然学校の4名の先生＋団長1名の5名が日本各地で講演や視察を行いました。

“Outdoor as a classroom”- We had a “Visit Japan project of Swedish nature school(Naturskolan)” from 22nd of March to 2nd of April. 4 nature school teachers and one environmental consulutant, a leader of the tour came to Japan and traveled around to give lecture and study visit.

日本人がこのメッセージを受け取ると、遠方の森や自然へ出かけて行われる野外教室や林間学校を思い浮かべるかもしれません。少なくとも東京の都会育ちである私は、数年前に初めて自然学校と聞いた時そのような印象を受けました。これに対してスウェーデン自然学校は、校庭や学校近くの公園など少しでも自然のある場所を教室として活用する学び、そして教育実践を大切にしています。

A lot of Japanese people might image outdoor education in the forest far from town or even school excursion when we hear the message “outdoor as a classroom”. At least I got such kind of impression when I heard of it first time several years ago. On the contrary, they think it’s important to use nature and outdoor very close to our daily life, for example school yards or parks.

今回のツアーでは、各地で様々な出会いと体験に恵まれました。来日してくれた自然学校の先生方、ご協力いただいた皆さん、どうもありがとうございました。

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet many interesting and enthusiastic people and experience though the trip with nature school teachers.
